Does an Online Sitting Work as Well as Sitting in the Same Room?

Also known as a mediumship reading.

People ask me this almost every week, usually in a slightly apologetic way. They want a sitting, but they assume it will somehow be a lesser version of the real thing unless we are in the same room.

I understand why. Most of what people know about mediumship comes from television, where the whole thing is staged in a room in front of an audience. So the room starts to look like part of how it works.

It isn't.

How the connection actually happens

The connection in a sitting is not happening between my eyes and your face. It is not coming from the room, or the chairs, or the fact that we could both reach out and touch the same table.

What I am working with is a blending of soul— yours, and of your loved ones who come to speak with you. That does not sit in a particular building. It does not weaken because there is a screen between us, or a phone line, or five hundred miles.

Distance has never been the thing that makes a sitting work. Presence has. And you can be completely present through a screen, in the same way you can be completely distracted sitting three feet from someone.

Some things are easier online

You are in your own chair, in your own home, with your own things around you. You have not driven anywhere, parked anywhere, or spent the first ten minutes adjusting to an unfamiliar room. A settled, comfortable sitter makes for a clearer session, and being at home settles most people faster than any room I could put them in.

It also means where you live stops mattering. I have worked with people I would never have met if this had to happen in person. Grief does not wait for travel budgets or convenient time zones.

The doubt underneath the question

I think the real worry is usually not about distance at all. It is that online might be easier to fake — that a screen gives a medium somewhere to hide.

That is a fair thing to wonder, and I would rather answer it directly than pretend nobody thinks it.

The evidence in a sitting was never about the setting. It is about detail you can check: a hobby only they had, a shared memory, the way they died, a phrase you would recognise anywhere. That standard does not change based on whether we are in the same room or on opposite sides of the country.

If anything, working online holds me to it more tightly. There is no room to read, no shared environment, nothing in your face or posture to lean on. Just the evidence itself, standing on its own.

If the only thing stopping you booking a sitting is that it would not be in person — I would gently ask you to reconsider. The distance was never the part doing the work.
